Of course if you are interested in a refurbished scanner, then there is no safer choice than one that has is manufacturer certified. This means that the respective manufacturer has gone through the scanner from end to end, replaced any needed parts, thoroughly cleaned it and have given some sort of warranty on the scanner. Much safer than buying a used scanner blind. Some manufacturer's will issue a full 90 warranty on their certified refurbished scanners and others will certify that the scanner will qualify for a maintenance program.
